Tropicana Ibiza was opened in May 1988 in Cala Jondal, where nature remained untouched and only the local islanders knew about it. Today, the cove is still a privileged place that retains its charm due to its natural setting among pine trees, mountains and unspoilt hills, making it the perfect location to disconnect from your daily routine. Tropicana invites you not only to enjoy yourself, but to escape the routine, be by the sea, and savour the chiringuito life.
In 1987, Cala Jondal was one of the most unspoilt enclaves on the Ibizan coast. Wild and secluded, the cove still retains its lush landscape of pine trees, hills, and mountains.
At that time, the only way to reach Jondal was offroad. That was when Toni Marí, the owner of Tropicana, decided to open up this paradise to those in search of tranquillity and unique places.
It took a year of work to develop the beach, carefully respecting its unspoilt nature and environment. In 1988, we opened our doors to the public, becoming the first Beach Club in Ibiza. We have kept the same spirit from 1988 to the present day. We started with about 15 employees, and today we have grown to more than 50.
A family business with a responsible, ethical and trustworthy philosophy. And the people responsible for this being the case today are Juan Carlos and Maribel. The Marí team have been honouring Tropicana’s legacy for years and continuing the recipe for success: those who come to Tropicana, always come back.
For the team, Tropicana is much more than a restaurant, it is a tribute to their beloved island and its origins. Thus, with great care and respect for the natural environment of this paradise, Juan Carlos and Maribel, accompanied by their top team of professionals, ensure that Tropicana is a very nice place indeed.
